RIP

As many of you know the wife is from Maine.  All of her family is up there; Mom, brother, aunts, cousins etc.  One of the first people I met after meeting the family was a lady named Faye.  Faye was the mother-in-law’s friend.  Faye passed away last week.  I wish I could properly explain what kind of person she was.  Since the first day we met her she treated us with all the love you would expect from a family member, she treated us as her own.  Faye was a character.  A kind hearted person, a great sense of humor, stinging bite of sarcasm, a mouth that would make a sailor blush and could she drink the beer.  Damn!  I’m sad to say that we haven’t actually spoken to her in about two or three years and the last time we saw her was on a trip up there in 04.  A good example of what kind of person Faye was was when we were in Maine last, summer 2004.  We just hoped we were going to be able to visit with her for a while; and without asking or planning she came down to Augusta (she lived a couple hours away) and brought with her about 30 lobsters and we proceeded to have a good old fashioned lobster cookout.  That was a great day.  I wish we could have known Faye better, but we enjoyed every second with her.  Our thoughts go out to her family and friends including her friend Betty, my mother-in-law.
