Once in a lifetime

An intellectual heavyweight talking head who’s so cool he only needs one name has his finger on the pulse of society.  This guy thinks the necessity of a gun is a once in a lifetime event.  This guy has no clue.  How do you reconcile such an idiotic statement?  Does protecting one’s self, family, friends or strangers end after that once in a lifetime event?  If so, then my family and I  should be safe from harm forever.  I’ve already had one “event”, if it were not for me being armed who knows the outcome.  Is it worth the risk?  It’s better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it.  We live in a very dangerous world and that danger doesn’t happen once.  It is each of our responsibilities to protect ourselves and others.
